1 Kings 17:8–16

In the previous message, we left Elijah beside the dried-up brook Cherith, where he went through “basic training” before God. That wasn’t the end of his days in the crucible. The Lord moved him into “advanced training” at Zarephath. While at this place, he learned more about how to stand firm and strong, even though the circumstances were virtually impossible. Two situations forced him to lean hard upon God: first, the absence of enough food and, second, the death of the widow’s son.
