Job 1:1–12

When the writer of the biblical book titled Job picked up a stylus to write his book, he could have begun with a blunt, three-word sentence, “Life is unfair.” Welcome to Job’s world. Not only is Job’s story relevant, but it represents one of the oldest and best pieces of literature of all time. In these opening verses, we’re introduced to our main character: a fine man with a remarkable resume. Then the scene changes as an insidious plan is suggested by Satan. Four principles emerge from these verses that remain true to this day.
