When the topic of angels comes up, we usually find ourselves thinking of winged cherubs floating on clouds. But the Bible presents a vastly different picture. So when the angel Gabriel approached Mary to announce her forthcoming pregnancy, he spoke with the authority of heaven, bringing a message of good news to this faithful girl. An impressive scene, no doubt, yet we must remember that he pointed to the One who sent him. For it is only God, and not His angels, who deserves our worship and adoration.
