The Way of Lament –by Dr. Terry Boyle - BOOKLET

Trouble Is Trouble, No Matter How You Look at It

Sometimes trouble comes seemingly out of nowhere—a bad report from the doctor, a serious accident, or some unexpected turn of events that leaves you feeling shocked, panicky, and powerless.

Perhaps you've experienced moments when you prayed with parents over the death of their child or when you comforted young children in the loss of a parent. Maybe your own child's life once hung in the balance after a tragic accident or illness. Dreadful diseases, harsh betrayals, and terrible disasters can strike out of a blue sky . . . with no apparent rhyme or reason.

And perhaps you've experienced times—let's be honest—when trouble came upon you because you ignored godly wisdom and behaved badly. These are the times when the theme song of your life was, “My Way.” You don't have to read far in the book of Proverbs before you realize that “There is a way which seems right to a man, / But its end is the way to death” (Proverbs 14:12; 16:25).

In times of pain—either pain from the chaos of a fallen world or pain of your own making—the appropriate, biblical approach to God is the way of lament. This book will tell you how to express your honest feelings to God.
