Jesus: A Lamb Led to Slaughter - CD

Isaiah 53:1–7

Dying is a dreadful thing. No amount of beautiful music or kind words can soften the blow. Although we work hard at camouflaging the pain and denying the reality of it all, death is grim . . . a harsh, ugly, inescapable fact to be reckoned with. What is true for us today was true for our Lord when He faced the facts in His day. Being fully human, He did not relish the ultimate end of His life: death by crucifixion. But He accepted it. Silent without yet groaning within, He, “like a lamb that is led to slaughter” (Isaiah 53:7), took our place in death. We shall review the essentials that resulted in Jesus’s awful agony that dark day when He was “smitten of God and afflicted . . . crushed for our iniquities” (53:4-5).
